Mumbai witnessed an outpouring of grief on Monday as the final rites of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle were performed at Shivaji Park in Dadar. Fans, film personalities, and political leaders gathered in large numbers to pay their last respects.
Her final journey started around 4 PM from her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel. The hearse, decorated with white flowers like jasmine and lilies, carried her mortal remains along with a photograph of the singer from her younger days in traditional Maharashtrian attire.

Streets of Mumbai Turn into a Sea of Tributes
As the procession moved forward, people lined the streets, balconies, and rooftops to catch a final glimpse. Many showered flowers as a mark of respect, while silence and emotion filled the air.
At Shivaji Park, chants of “Asha ji amar rahe” echoed during the last rituals, creating a deeply emotional atmosphere.
Leaders and Celebrities Join the Farewell

Top political figures, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, attended the ceremony to honor the late singer.
The film industry also came together to bid goodbye. Personalities such as Usha Mangeshkar, Raj Thackeray, Vicky Kaushal, and Aamir Khan paid their respects.
Family Performs Final Rituals
Her youngest son, Anand, carried out the last rites as family members and close relatives stood by during the cremation process. The Mumbai Police also offered a ceremonial guard of honor, marking official respect for her contribution to Indian culture.
Public Homage at Casa Grande
A day earlier, her mortal remains were moved from Breach Candy Hospital to her residence in Lower Parel. The body was kept in a glass casket for public viewing, allowing fans and well-wishers to offer their final tributes.
Many well-known figures, including Amitabh Bachchan, visited to pay their respects. He described her passing as the end of a remarkable musical era and praised her lasting legacy.

Over two days, several celebrities visited her residence, including Uddhav Thackeray, Sachin Tendulkar, Tabu, Padmini Kolhapure, Riteish Deshmukh, Rakesh Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Jackie Shroff, Vivek Oberoi, Helen, Javed Ali, Supriya Sule, Sudesh Bhosle, Asha Parekh, Shraddha Kapoor, Udit Narayan, and cricketer Mohammed Siraj.

During the mourning period, her classic songs, such as “Mera Kuch Saaman,” “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,” “Dil Cheez Kya Hai,” and others, continued to play, reminding people of her unmatched musical journey.
