Kylian Mbappe Wins €61 Million Unpaid Wage Case Against PSG

French football star Kylian Mbappe has secured a victory in a labour court case against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), which has been ordered to pay him between €60 million and €61 million in unpaid salary and bonuses.

Court Decision and Compensation Details

Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid in June 2024, had originally claimed more than €260 million from PSG, while the French club demanded €440 million from the player.

The court ruled that the final amount owed includes €55 million in unpaid wages and roughly €6 million in holiday payments. Mbappe’s lawyers welcomed the decision, stating it reaffirms that labor laws apply to all, including professional athletes.

PSG’s Response

PSG acknowledged the ruling but reserved the right to appeal. In an official statement, the club said it “has always acted in good faith and with integrity” and confirmed it will comply with the court’s judgment.

The club’s €440 million claim partly stemmed from a cancelled €300 million transfer to Saudi club Al Hilal in June 2023, which Mbappe had refused.

Background of the Dispute

Mbappe initially filed his complaint in June, citing unfair treatment at the start of the 2023-24 season. According to the forward, PSG sidelined him and had him train with players the club intended to offload after he refused to sign a new contract.

“PSG excluded him from their pre-season tour of Asia, and he missed the first game of the season, but the club later reinstated him following discussions.”

Mbappe’s Record and Move to Real Madrid

After seven seasons with PSG, where he scored 256 goals in 308 games, Mbappe moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer. At his new club, he reportedly earns an annual salary of €30 million. PSG, meanwhile, won its first Champions League title in the season following his departure.
